November recap

November was an OK month for me, no book sells but had time with family and friends. The start of the month mostly consisted with getting some corrections from one beta reader. Which was very helpful, and minimal suggestion from another beta reader who didn’t seem to really want to help me. So I have been trying  to get everything else done so I can publish book 3, I am still hoping for the end of the month but it’s looking like it might be the beginning of the new year.    The middle of the month I was still working on the corrections but took a small break and was the photographer at a friend’s wedding. I took some time and edited photos for her so she had some really nice pictures. I also did a bunch of promotional stuff for all the books I have out plus the one I am trying to get published.     The end of the month was of course Thanksgiving and spent the day spending time with family and trying to enjoy their company. I finished up the corrections and made a few changes that I

October is almost over!

I can’t believe October is almost over! I had two events that happened this month. At the beginning of the month I had Archon. That was a three day sci-fi convention and I believe I made six sales which isn’t horrible but it is not the best i have done there. I had another event a few days ago and made two sales. Again not the best  but still better than nothing.  I get to take a short break from events, i have been working on promoting book 3 and work on the edits, work on covers, everything I need to do so I can get it out hopefully before the end of the year. At the latest the beginning of next year. I have been working hard on that stuff on top of that i am having some health issues. Don’t worry it is nothing too bad but I need to get all the test done so I can get treatment started. Starting in December I will be doing vender events again. I am hoping to get two a month set up so i can get my books out there for you all. I need to get back to work Happy reading  Happy writing

The year is going by so fast.

I can’t believe how fast this year is going by. This has been a good year so far, I have been doing pretty go at all the events I have done so far. The event I did this past Saturday(sept. 9th)went OK, I sold 11 books. That is about what I have been selling at the vendor events. I am going to Archon 46 on Sept 29th - Oct. 1.     So let’s start with the year  going by so fast, i have noticed over the last 5 or so the year has gone by faster and faster. I think it’s due to the fact my kids are no longer little kids, and I no longer need to do everything for them anymore. That thought makes me sad, but it’s a part of life i have to deal with.     The event I just did was at the same place my last few vendor events happened. This was a bit slower than the other events were, but it was a really nice day and there were some other events happening. I still did pretty good and it felt it was really good since I made enough to cover the cost of the table and then some. I feel really good

Editor(my opinions on getting one)

I thought I would give my opinion on how to get an editor and what you should look out for. Now this is based on my opinion but I think it might be helpful. Now having your books edited can be expensive but it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. But it should not be too cheap either, do you research.   Now when you have an editor, you should be able to contact them and they get back to you in a reasonable amount of time. Now a reasonable amount of time could very, if you contact them at the end of business day you may not hear back until the next business. That could be one day or three days, it all depends on your editor. They are people too, they do have lifes outside of work.   Now then there is if they are professional, if they are friendly that is fine, and they can say how they help others clients. But if they bad mouth their other clients to you that’s not a good sign. Mainly if they tell you about other clients they are talking about you to the other clients. So that is some

It is about mid July

I sorry about the last blog post being posted late I have no idea what happened but its posted now.           Now to get on with this post. So far this month is going OK. We had a celebration on the 4th of July, we had a BBQ at my mother in law's. I got some writing done while I was there visiting with my family. It was a good day, the only thing that could have made it better was if my youngest was able to be there, but due to school and work they could not make it. Which I completely understand but I do miss them.          I have gotten more writing done and transcribed to my computer. I am still researching how long A Pooka story {the older kid book I am writing} needs to be. I do have a couple artists I am going to be working with to get the covers and some bookmark art. I am hoping to have it out in a year or so.          I am also going to try and get the book I am rereleasing by October-ish if not then by the end of the year. I just really need to get the cover done and a b

June has been a bit busy

I know June is not over yet but the rest of the month should be calmer(I hope). so lets get into what has kept me busy, well the month started OK it was the normal amount of chaos for my life. I had been writing and promoting my books and the event I did on the 17th. then I was dealing with friend issues (its all taken care of, no worries).  My hubby took the first week off  and I didn't get much writing done, but I got to spend time with my hubby.      I had to order more books, pencils and business cards, they all came the first week or two of  the month. Then my son's 21st birthday happened which was just simple and he wanted cupcakes. I made him cupcakes, and we took him out to eat. The rest of that week was spent getting over a cold and getting everything together for the vendor event. the event went OK, I sold six books which I think was OK I enjoyed the event.       I am working on getting back to writing, and promoting. but I have also been thinking about putting the

The first week of May

Well it started out well I started working on a story I started when my youngest kid was about 10 years old. It was going well, I made some progress and I was happy. I started getting my stuff together for an event I had on Saturday.      The event itself went really well and I sold 13 books which is awesome. I met a lot of nice people and a bookstore owner in the town offered to let me do a book signing there which is awesome. While my husband and I were at the event I was able to get a huckleberry plant. I was really excited I finally have one.       After we got home and had dinner and we were relaxing and I was scrolling social media and I found out my father had passed away on Friday May 5th. we had no contact with my family for the last 8ish years.(Long story I will not get into) I bothers me no one from my family told me. But at least I know, I don’t know when anything is happening and where he will be laid to rest. (It has something to do with us not speaking)        I am

busy with events

I have been so busy with vendor events I nearly forgot to blog and send out my newsletter. I was thinking I would walk you all through a day were I am doing an event.       Everything starts when I bring up all the things I need. I get my books, the swag (bookmarks, stickers, business cards, pencils), my banners, and bags, newsletter signup sheets, questions (I will explain those in a moment) and the signs, moneybox with the money to make change, plus the things I need to take credit/debit cards. All the things I just listed I always need no matter if I am inside or outside. Now if I am outside, I need a table, chairs, and my canopy.     On event days, which are normally a weekend day. I get up early so I can take care of my animals, take vitamins, and eat breakfast. Then I help my husband (who helps me at the events) load the car, we do one last check to make sure we have everything then my husband and I go to where the event is being held.     Once we get to where the event is,

A day in the life of a writer who is also a mom

I was asked a few times how I can write while being a stay-at-home mom. So, I thought I would give you all what a day in my life is looks like. Now I know this may be rather boring for some if not all of you. But I was asked that question enough I felt the need to do this, maybe it will help someone who wants to write but not sure if they can. With that said let's get started.     I start my days at 4:15 in the morning Monday through Friday. Three days a week I work out, not soon after getting up. On the other days I get up early and I spend time with my husband before he goes to work. I take care of my animals before taking my oldest to work on days he works. When I get home from taking him, I do some homework which is mostly just straightening up here and there before sitting down and doing some promoting my books.    After I  pick up my son from work, we eat lunch and I either continue working on promotional stuff or I start working on my current work in progress until my h

The new year and the goals.

I hope everyone had a good holiday season, and the new year is starting well for you all. My holidays went well and my new year is going well so far. I am writing this for a couple reasons, one is to keep myself accountable to my goals. Two to help those who might feel overwhelmed trying to set goals.   Let’s start with holding myself accountable, I have discovered I write out my goals where I see them I keep to them better. I suggest if you have a hard time keeping to your goals try writing them out and have them where you see them every day. If you still have a hard time try adding some smaller goals, it helps keep you motivated when you see that you were able to mark off goals.    Now the goals, they can be anything, they can be as big or small as they need to be. My goals are small with a few big ones. Mine are, 1. to write everyday for at least an hour a day but try for 1,000words a day. 2. Finish writing book four this year. 3. Get book three edit and possibly published this ye
