Archon has been postponed and school is starting.

Archon 44 has been postponed until October of 2021, this is a bummer I look forward to going to archon every year. but I understand why and it is for the best. I am trying to stay positive and basically use the time until Archon in 2021 to get book 2 published and get the swag to go with it. So I am  more prepared. With everything going on in the world I don't think there will be any conventions for the rest of the year.     But it is hard on my book sales since I sold more at Archon last year than I have just promoting my book on line.  I am trying to find new ways to sell my books but without people reviewing my book its hard to get the word out. I know there are ways to get reviews but I refuse to pay for reviews. That feels like cheating to me and I want to do this through my hard work.      I know I am not the only person hurting due to the  pandemic. I know other small businesses that depend on cons and craft/ve...

Working on edits and being a mom

Hello all,   I have been busy the past few weeks working on edits with my editor. I also have been busy with mom stuff During this pandemic . So I figured I would give you a glimpse of my life.    The past few weeks I took my daughter to do behind the wheel for driver’s education. Normally it would not stress me out but I was worried about the fact my daughter had to wear a mask with two other people in a car. But everything is fine she is fine. Then it’s was dentist and dr. Appointments. The dentist appointments were in person for both kids. My son’s dr. Appointment was over the phone but my daughter’s dr. appointment had to be in person Yesterday because she needed a couple vaccines. But her appointment got more complicated, do worry she is fine just has to have a few more things done. Since my son has graduated high school, it is just my daughter needing books. That’s something else I needed to do yesterday.   With all my mom stuff to do I don’t get as much time a...

Doing Toyman show........finally

I am doing Toyman show Sunday after it was cancelled in my due to the pandemic restrictions. There are still some restrictions but Toyman show can still be held (yay). Here is the link  https://toymanshow.com/   I will be in the balcony of the building. I am soo excited to be doing a vender show after months of nothing. Don’t worry I will be wearing a mask and washing my hands often when I can’t I will be using a hand sanitizer I am not allergic to ( I am allergic to just about all hand sanitizers and disinfectants)     I am not going to hide from the world because I am afraid. I will take precautions to keep myself save and in turn keeping the public safe. If you want to come see me Sunday great, if you choose to stay home that’s fine I am planning on being at as many vender shows and conversations I can go to and be safe. I have some writing to do I hope everyone is staying safe and I pray all this ends soon. Happy reading  Happy writing

The pandemic is hurting small businesses

I know the the post was hopeful, well the hopefulness is just about dead. The last post I said it was just until April 7th. Then the end date was April 15 then April 30th. Well on April 30th the federal stay at home order ended and many states started the slow reopening. Not my state, the governor of my state extended it to May 30th. Which means my kids will not get to go back to in person learning they have to finish the school year e learning. My son’s graduation will not be the normal ceremony it will be a live stream of the names being said then going to the school to pick up his diploma with out coming in contact with people. My daughter missed out on a play she was a part of because it was canceled. My daughter will also be turning 16 during this crap.    The upside is the governor is going to start opening the state up in regions which means we could be to a more normal life before school starts in august. I sure hope so.  But in the mean time small ...

Social distancing while being a wife, mother, and writer

As you all know we are dealing with a pandemic right now. I thought I would let you have a small peak in to my life social distancing being a mom of two teens who are home. And how I am getting any writing done. Along with everything else I need to do around my house.    As of March 17th my kids have been home from school ( doing e-learning) and will be home until at least April 7th. Which is hard to deal with because not only did the kids daily schedules changed but so did mine. We all still get up early in the morning, do the things that need to be done( taking care of our pets, brush hair, eat breakfast, brush teeth). Then the kids do school work that their teachers send them from 8am until at least 1pm in some cases longer Monday thru Friday. I get the normal household chores done while they do their school work. Then I try and write but it does not always work. I sometimes don’t get to write until they are busy doing their own things or when they are asleep. ...

How I became a writer

I touched base on this in other post, videos, letters but I never went in to too much detail. I thought I would touch base more on, no touch base with the wrong word give you more information on how I became a writer. I have always written something a good majority of my life, but because I was so good at drawing and artsy stuff like that I follow that dream for a while. When I was in high school I took art classes, I took sculpture, I and metalworking, all artsy stuff. I also start writing more while I was in high school. I took creative writing classes and my teachers did not like what I wrote they said that what I wrote was too scary it was horror, and it was it good blah blah blah. You see I have always written about monsters, and I’ve never just written monsters like you see on the horror movies or in most horror book. I wrote from the monsters point of you. I wrote things that people didn’t understand. So I didn’t really follow that a whole lot, but I continued  to write. B...

It’s hard not to be discouraged

I know it’s hard not to get discouraged or frustrated or feel like you’re failing. But don’t give up I’m writing this Mainly because I keep hearing about in the reading and seeing writers, artists, people in general we are trying to follow their dreams and getting discouraged. Because  you’re either being rejected or so not going the way they want and I want to encourage you don’t give up. I want to tell you a short story about my kids first, my daughter  who is 15 almost 16. You see since she was 5 years old she wanting to be a veterinarian. She’s told me over and over does she want to be a vet now over the years the type of vet has changed from being like a small animal dog and cat type. to being an exotic vet so she could take care of her mothers, my hedgehogs. To be an all encompassing Vet. one that sees large animal cows, horses and small animals and everything in between. she got that idea from Dr. Pol, from the incredible Dr. Pol. At 5 years old when she asked me what d...
